365 Days of Wine
Valentine's Day calls for Pink Bubbles. Really...
February 13, 2010
Wandered into the Austin Wine Merchant again today. Searching for a few more blogworthy choices. They were tasting Rose sparkling. Well, duh. Valentine's day calls for Rose sparkling or Champagne. I fell for the Schramsberg Brut Rose 2006, California.
I love Schramsberg. The California winery that makes sparkling as good as any true French Champagne at the same $30 price point. Oldest sparkling producer in the country. Amazing winery. A must see if in the area.
I love Brut Rose. The Pinot Noir gives any Brut Rose the wonderful rich round fruit notes that make it so different from the non pinks.
This one is 60% Pinot Noir, 40% Chardonnay to deliver a crisp, round clean wine. A light nose, Red fruits, very clean, with just the merest tinge of clean yeast. The palate delivers a crisp, tight palate, clean and pretty with again delicate red fruits, a round mid palate of more red fruit and crisp acid, and a nice lingering finish. Never toasty or yeasty, just crisp clean and lightly fruity in a delicate way. This one is a huge winner for $27 a bottle!
Drink This Wine!
Cheers,
