Argentine Fest @ Central Market 1: Altocedro Malbec 2008
May 11, 2010
Central Market is having a week long festival of all things Argentina. They were kind enough to send over some samples of the wines they are featuring.
First up Altocedro Malbec 2008 La Consulta Mendoza. Lovely rich and warm nose. Good berry, cherry tones. An elegant palate. Rich lush dark berry fruits, touch of plum and cherry, nice light earth and smoke, but the tannins are so well managed that this wine just does a sultry Tango on the tongue. Smooth and slick, you can just see the dancers glide effortlessly across the polished floor. Head and shoulders above the average Argentina Malbec. A very very well done effort, I must say. The $12.99 price tag is well worth it, making this a heck of a good deal for great wine.
