Sylvain Cathiard Nuits Saint Georges 1er Cru Aux Murgers 1998
May 09, 2010
Another one of Paul's cellar wines. Sylvain Cathiard Nuits Saint Georges 1er Cru Aux Murgers 1998. Seriously and amazingly tight and wound up for a 12 year old wine. All tight acids and no fruit for some two full hours. Serious. All of a sudden after two hours, it relaxed. I guess it got tired of telling me "talk to the hand, the wine aint here".
It showed the nice mushroom forest floor tones, and cherry smoky fruit, with fine acids, but this wine needs another five years. At least. It will be seriously good, the bones are there, but still bound up tight.
Drink this wine, in 2015.
Cheers,
