Domaine Coste Chaude Cotes du Rhone "Truffiere' 2007
Not your typical Cotes du Rhone by a mile. Wonderful meaty dark fruited nose gets your attention right away. This is NOT some wimply Grocery Store shelf CdR. Nossir. The meatiness, beefy smoky dark fruits are on the palate as well, but not heavy. Clearly Syrah is the major player here. Very much Northern Rhone instead of the fruity light Kool Aid CdRs from the south. Estate Bottled. Mid to upper teens in price depending in where you are. Another "sweet spot" wine in both quality and price. Had this with rack of Lamb and it went beautifully.
