Rob Moshein - The Austin Wine Guy

Tollot-Beaut Bourgogne Blanc AC 2006

October 31, 2010

Found this on sale at the Austin Wine Merchant. For $20, I figured what the heck. Make a nice salad with garlic and anchovies, Romaine and Radicchio, broiled up a Game Hen...

The wine had a lovely, typical nose. Green fruit, slight warmth. Pleasant.  The palate was round and a bit fat, a lot of complex flavors again. Green fruit, warm oak, hints of floral. The main flaw, if you can call it that, is a lack of acidity. I was surprised and a bit let down. It was flabby in the glass, a shot of acid would have really made the wine sing.

I've had worse. I've had better. I guess for $20, it was fair enough. It just didn't hold up to the food the way I'd hoped.

Cheers from Yr. Mst Hmbl & Gntl Svt.
