I just read this article, about how Screaming Eagle wants to "thwart selfish greed".

I'm sorry but I've really had enough. Sometimes, Gentle Reader, yr mst hmbl & obdt svt just MUST call a douchebag a douchebag.

Ok. So, Screaming Eagle was "honorable enough" to "permit" long standing customers to plunck down $250 PER BOTTLE OF SAUVIGNON BLANC.  Ummmmm, it's Sauvignon Blanc people. NOT blood out of the Holy Grail itself. Do you, Gentle Reader, have any clue what it costs to actually grow and make ONE bottle of Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc? About $10, give or take a buck. Two Hundred Forty dollars a bottle profit is NOT selfish greed? What the F***???

Then they get all pissy and irate because some people who were STUPID enough to pay $250 for a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc realized their mistake and decided to sell their bottles for whatever the free market will bear. Currently, that same bottle is now selling for $2,500!  Now, if two fifty is insane, twenty five hundred is really just some idiot with too much money flushing hundred dollar bills down the crapper. But, we live in a free market economy.

Wait a sec...What is Screaming Eagle Cabernet trading for? Cheapest auction price I can find is well north of a grand a bottle. So, let me get this straight. Screaming Eagle has built their brand by CREATING this post release demand/frenzy for the label.  Let's face it, it is still only Napa Valley Cabernet.  Nothing, but nothing justifies this kind of price, except of course a carefully created branding over the years to create the PERCEIVED value in the market place of their label.

And now Screaming Eagle is upset that somebody made a profit from re selling their wine? THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT THE MARKET HAS BEEN DOING WITH THEIR WINE FOR YEARS.

This is direct to you Screaming Eagle: "You are hypocritical, self absorbed douchebags."

To the rest of the world I say: "Do us all a favor. STOP buying Screaming Eagle at any price and let the crap settle down to the $25 per bottle price point where it belongs. THEN let us see how irate Screaming Eagle becomes.  I for one can't wait for that day.
