Rob Moshein - The Austin Wine Guy

Tuesday night, $9 and tasty

February 02, 2010

Busy, cold damp day. Stressy. Thought about the comfort of chicken and sausage jambalya. Perfect.

What to pair? What to pair?  Two schools of thought here, one is a wine bold and big to stand up to the flavors. The other is let the wine roll over and allow the food to be the alpha male.  Decided on the latter.

Saw the Torres Viña Brava Perllada 2007 on sale for $8.99. Why the heck not? Perllada that clean, crisp light wine from Spain usually great with seafood. Thought it would do fine. It did.  Clean nose of lime, thyme and lemon peel. Crisp acidic palate, with more lime and thyme and light minerals. Clean finish. Paired well with the jambalaya.

Worth the money for a Tuesday night.

Cheers,
