Remember when Great New Zealand Sauv. Blanc Was $10. Me too. Sadly its still a memory

February 28, 2010

Grabbed this at the megalomart grocery store. You guys do the same. Nobilo Sauvignon Blanc, Marlborough  "regional collection" 2008, $11 bucks so what the hell.

Had great hopes, they were not met.  A weak fruity nose and palate.  Lots of grapefruit on the nose and palate. Fleshy fruit forward. Lord I miss the old days when this price would  buy  a great Sauvignon Blanc. Today, it seems NZ wants you to spend $25 or more for a great wine...Sad.

Had this with home made Fried Chicken. Such a no brainer. The wine was flabby, grapefruity, and not so interesting.

Not horrible, not great.

If nothing else is around, drink this wine. If you have alternatives, drink them

Cheers
