Pouilly Fuissé no longer a joke line in Richard Pryor film

February 09, 2010

Years ago, when I was a young wine fan, everyone drank Pouilly Fuissé. Then, it became a joke of what pretentious Beverly Hills "ladies who lunch" drank.  Now again, it has some serious recognition.

The  Antonin Rodet Pouilly Fuissé 2007 is  a serious wine, at a less than ridiculous price. Retail is less than $45 everywhere, true AOC, and great quality. The nose is warm yet green, pear and pepper, The palate is rich not heavy, light oak submits to the green grape/pear fruit, great acids, but not tight or wound up. Typical of the 07 vintage, makes this a drink now wine. Great with any light food.

I had mine with fettucine alfredo, I took dungenes crab, warmed in butter and tossed with the Alfredo. Perfect pairing.

This wine is no longer a joke.

Drink this Wine

Cheers,
