Elio Grasso "Educato" Chardonnay, Langhe 2007

January 04, 2010

I don't generally care for Italian Chardonnay much. Usually way too dense, woody, thick and the fruit is buried.  THIS one is not that.  Rich, yes, but good green fruit, a light almost sweet tone, and nice solid structure makes this a good match for food. Had this with chicken breast in a mushroom cream sauce and it paired nicely. The earthy structure matched the 'shrooms...the solid but not overly so acidity cut the cream sauce.  Good stuff and again, right at $20, so in the current "sweet spot" of price.

Cheers,
